Bourbon Flavoring - 1 oz
Super Strength Bourbon Flavoring
A typical 5-6 gallon batch uses 1-2 drams (0.125-0.25 oz), depending on the flavor and desired intensity. Add the flavor during kegging or bottling, starting with the lower amount and adjusting gradually to taste. Mix gently and sample before treating the entire batch.
Flavor Profile and Beverage Ideas
Bourbon offers vanilla, caramel, oak, and gentle barrel-spice character. It is a natural fit for stout, porter, brown ale, barleywine, old ale, strong mead, or dessert wine. Add enough to frame the malt or honey, not cover fermentation character. Maple, pecan, coffee, chocolate, cherry, and toasted coconut pair especially well. In a dry base, Bourbon will read sharper; a little residual sweetness will make the aroma and finish feel fuller.
